About the Author
Simeon Batcheldor Brown was born on March 1, 1812 in Bridgewater, New Hampshire. He was residing in St. Clair, Michigan when he enlisted in the 6th Michigan Cavalry Field and Staff on August 14, 1862. He was mustered into service as a 54-year old Major on October 13. Brown was discharged for promotion to Colonel on July 17, 1863 and was mustered into the 11th Michigan Cavalry on December 10. On January 31, 1865, he was promoted to Brigadier General by Brevet for his meritorious conduct at the battle of Marion in Virginia. Simeon B. Brown resigned from service on June 11, 1865. He died on March 18, 1893 and is buried at St. Clair, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
