About the Author
John Brown, of Commerce, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 5th Michigan Cavalry Company H on August 21, 1862 at Corunna, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 30 at the age of 23 and was later promoted to Sergeant. John Brown was discharged on June 19, 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.Documents for this Author:
