About the Author
Spencer H. Bronson, of Fall River, Wisconsin, enlisted as a Corporal in the 7th Wisconsin Infantry Company B on May 11, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day and later promoted to Sergeant and 1st Sergeant. Bronson was listed as being wounded on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. On April 14, 1865, Bronson witnessed the assassination of Abraham Lincoln at Fords Theater in Washington D.C. He was transferred from the 7th Wisconsin Infantry into the Veteran Reserve Corps on May 15. Spencer H. Bronson was discharged from service on November 21. He died on September 20, 1930 and is buried at the Vet Home Cemetery in Hot Springs, South Dakota.Documents for this Author:
