About the Author
While residing in Fall River, Wisconsin, George H. Brayton enlisted in the 7th Wisconsin Infantry Company B on May 11, 1861. He was mustered into service as a 1st Sergeant that same day. Brayton received several promotions including: 2nd Lieutenant, November 21; 1st Lieutenant, March 21, 1862; and, Captain, April 29. George H. Brayton was killed in action on August 28 at Gainesville, Virginia. He was the first officer of his unit to be killed there.Documents for this Author:
