About the Author

Marshall Boyce enlisted with the 5th Michigan Cavalry Company M as a private on February 27, 1865 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was mustered into service on that same day. On September 1, Boyce was transferred from the 5th Michigan Cavalry to the 1st Michigan Cavalry Company L. Marshall Boyce was discharged from service on December 5 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
