Bowe, Prosper

About the Author

Residing in Coloma, Michigan, Private Prosper Bowe enlisted at the age of 19 in the U.S. Volunteers Birge’s Sharpshooters Company D on October 20, 1861 at Benton, Michigan. He was mustered into service on November 9. On January 15, 1863, Bowe was taken prisoner by guerrillas and later returned on August 14 at Corinth, Mississippi. He re-enlisted on December 24 at Pulaski, Tennessee. He was promoted to Corporal on January 1, 1865 and was discharged from service on July 7 at Louisville, Kentucky. Prosper Bowe lived in Watervliet, Michigan after the war.
