About the Author
At the age of 19, Private Gilbert S. Bowe, of Millburgh, Michigan, enlisted in the U.S. Volunteers Birge’s Sharpshooters Company D on August 19, 1862 at Detroit, Michigan. He was mustered into service on September 1 and listed as joining his regiment on September 5 at Corinth, Mississippi. On February 25, 1864, he was transferred from Company D to Company H at Pulaski, Tennessee. Gilbert S. Bowe was discharged from service on June 2, 1865. He lived in Tyler, Texas after the war.Documents for this Author:
