About the Author
At the age of 21, Private Eliakim R. Blakeslee (1839-1883) enlisted in the 1st U.S. Volunteers Sharpshooters Company C on August 21, 1861 at Detroit, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 26 and was later promoted to Sergeant, then to Adjutant on May 25, 1864. Eliakim R. Blakeslee was discharged on October 7 at Petersburg, Virginia. He died in 1883 and is buried at the Mt. Rest Cemetery in St Johns, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
