About the Author
Private Goodwin S. Beaver, of Sheridan, Michigan, enlisted at the age of 29 in the 1st Michigan Sharpshooters Company D on September 25, 1863. He was mustered into service that same day. Beaver received two promotions: Sergeant and Quartermaster Sergeant on September 29. Goodwin S. Beaver died of disease on June 28, 1865 at Washington, D. C. and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.Documents for this Author:
