About the Author
Henry B. Beardsley, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Company B on May 22, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day and was later promoted to Corporal. On July 1, 1863, Beardsley was taken prisoner at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Henry B.
