About the Author

Theophilus R. Baxter enlisted in the 2^nd Michigan Cavalry Company F on August 31, 1862 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service as a 43-year-old Private on September 31. Baxter was listed as joining his regiment on November 9. Theophilus R. Baxter died of disease on April 2, 1864 at Knoxville, Tennessee. He is buried at the Knoxville National Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
