About the Author
Murray S. Baker resided in Plymouth, Michigan when he enlisted in the 4th Michigan Cavalry Company D on July 24, 1862. He was mustered into service as a Private at the age of 21 on August 28. On March 1, 1864, Baker was promoted to Corporal. He was listed as a prisoner of war on October 1 at Columbia, Tennessee. Baker was paroled on April 18, 1865 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. He survived the explosion of the Steamer Sultana in Memphis, Tennessee on April 27. Murray S. Baker was discharged from service on June 28 at Detroit, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
