My Darling Wife.
Mary.
Sunday is gone the days
work is over and I think it no more than
right to devote some few moments ere I sleep
to my “girl” Wife. Undoubtedly it would be
more to the point to be present but when one
cannot do as they would do as they can.
Very near two months we have been parted
and it seems two years. I have worked hard
but have grown fat on it weigh fully
twelve pounds more than at any time within
a year and a half. I did not go over
to the Second Corps to day but occupied
my time in sleeping. and since sun
down have been away on a ride toward
Surrattsville with “Blake.” It is a very
pleasant country cherries, mulberries, +c
abound. peaches are to be plenty with apples
later in the season. We saw a
[ ? ]

[ ? ]) of young ladies but did not stop
to see if they wanted us. (Memorandum.
dont think they did.)
In to days “Chronicle” is several inter=
esting articles one Artemus Ward in Richmand
R. Ward is [ ? ]. I continue to send
you those pictures. Nothing wrong is there
I long to be with you in fact I’d
like to hold you in my arms this very night.
