Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Franklin Tennessee. May 27th 1863 Dear Father Yours of the 20th came to hand day before yester- day while we was out on pickett, should of answered it yesterday but I did not get time! I did say Wing was coming home but I doubt it now he wrote the other day that he was coming back to the Regiment. as long as they keep us in the field & in the front at that no well man can get a furlow & I cant play up sick very well. I would like to come from on a visit first rate but it is I have said they want evry avail- able man out here not back in Michigan they do no good there! I am glad that my money has got home all right I did not expect it would. we signed the pay rolls yesterday & will probably get our pay in a few days again for two months. March & April! I reckon they are all agoing to die off in Homer this summer. there is no news to write I suppose you know that we have got Vicksburg & a large number of prisnors that is the report in yesterdays paper & confirmed in to days paper I hope it is so. I hope to hear in your next that Delia Champion is better what is E. G. Champion doing & where is he. also Ira Hutchinson I have not heard from them in a long while! there is no more news. give my love to all, this leaves me in the finest kind of spirits well [  ?  ] tough & [   ?   ] & I hope it may find you all well. we are having very hot weather the roads are awful dusty Jake Prine started for home the other day he will call and see you he said he was agoing to do so. no more this time write often Yours Truly Charles H.
