About the Author
Horace S. Roberts resided in Detroit, Michigan when he enlisted in the 1st Michigan Infantry Company F on April 20, 1861. He was mustered into service as a 33-year-old Captain on May 1. He was discharged from the service on August 7 and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on August 10. He was later mustered into Field and Staff on October 31. On April 28, 1862, Roberts was promoted to Colonel. He was wounded in action at Gaines’ Mill, Virginia on June 27. Horace S. Roberts died on August 30 at the Battle of Second Bull Run in Virginia.Documents for this Author:
