About the Author

Residing at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Private Henry C. Weed enlisted in the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Company E on April 21, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day. On July 21, he was taken prisoner at Bull Run, Virginia. Weed was listed as being wounded, however the date and place is unknown. Henry C. Weed was discharged due to wounds inflected by a rebel sentinel on April 21, 1862 at Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia.
