Regiment: 1st Michigan Light Artillery Battles Mentioned: Murfreesboro, Tennessee Historical Figures: Jan 6th Murfreesboro Tenn Dear Brothers and Sisters and Mother I take this opertunity to write afew lines to let you know that I am alive and well after a four days bloody contest at this place we went into Battle the 31st Dec our battery and the 4th Regular Battery stood the front and the blunt for 4 long days and nights we lost 1 man killed and 11 woun ded in our company I cant write many particulars at present Heman is well and hearty I got a letter from Jessee the 26th they are all well excuse my short letter I will write a long one in a few days Direct as before E B VanMarter write soon
