Regiment: 7th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Chesnut hill hospital June the 30 1864 [cut away]Dear wife isit down again to rite afew lines to you to let you know that iam well at present hopeing thes few lines may find you the same ireceived your letter last night and was glad to hear from you all but was sorry to hear that ma was sick and little mary for idont think if she has got the dropsy again that ishall ever see her again although imay for ihave applied for afurlough and iposibly may get it but idont stand more than one chance out of ten you must excuse poor riteing and short letters for my [ ? ] of wrighting are verry poor at pesent but ishal rite a little as often as ican but yesterday thare four hundred patients came in here and thare is seven hundred more expected to day and some of us will be sent away ithink but iam one of the few that is able to help take ca that cant take care of them chance for getting away y po you will have avisit from c  [cut away] you get this for he started fr monday morning you want and let you know when in but that is something ica know no more about tha self but iwill come as soon as ican ishal have to bring my letter to aclose for ihave got to go to work so no more at present this from your affection ate husband George Phelps
