Regiment: 22nd Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp Ella Bishop Lexington Kentucky Feb 7th 1863 Dear Wife, I now take opertunety of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am in good health at present and I hope these few lines will find you all injoying they same blessing Dear Wife I received they box you sent to me last Monday night Ali safe and sound and was very pleaed with it but I have not received aney letter from you or ‘Waiter in three weeks. I should like to hear from you as soon as you can write. For they last leter I received from you was they leter you sent my fathers leter in. So you can judge for your self when I heard from you last I w1sh you would get Walter of Ashley to write for you for I think they time so long without hearing from you I have rote two leters to Walter and have received no answer yet from either of them I sent you some money and a Company Record and have received no answer from them. I want you to send a letter and let me know you received they things I sent you or not My Captain is in Pontiac you can see him and he can tell you all about Kentucky and me too if you want to know what kind of a soldier I am. You can ask him and he will proberably tell you than I have done my duty like a man every since I left Pontiac. That is more honor to you and me than to run to Canada. Dear Wife they weather is very cold hear at present I supose wee have had more snow than you have. Yet they snow is about six inches deep heare at present and fose up hard I rote a letter to Walter last Sunday and I wish hee would write to me and let me know all they news he can We came very near going to Danville they other day. Wee parley packed our things to go We had orders to bee Ready to march. We shall no go but I canot tell weather wee shall stay heare or go to Danville I hope wee shall not move till they weather geets warmer. But if they word march comes I shall bee ready to go and wiling to Now Hanah you must take good care of little baby and kiss her for me I hope by they blessing of God I shall be able to soon see you both once more But if it is not they will of God to Carey me through this war my self l hope if I am spared I shall bee able to return home soon and find you all well. Dear wife now give my love to Walter and Abby and to Jakes folks and to phelps folks and our acquintinces George Owens and Chalres Saper sends there respects to you and all I have not much news at present please write by the return of post so good by for this time.
