Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp neer Barrick May 29th 1862 Miss Clarra I think it is time that I hird from you I was thinking that I wrout the last time but for fear not I will write again I halve bin unwell for a few days back but am well again, the hot sun hurts our men and make them sick other wise it is vary healthy hear our men was all ordered out last night with these boys rashing but I was not able to go with thirm for the first time it was along ride out I thought that I had better wait a little longer till I got more strength thare is shooting hear all the time [        ?        ] every little while but thare is but [   ?   ] kild hear two or three a day is brought in ded this is a nice plase for us and our horses plenty to eate but that was not [   ?   ] the case all of the time we halve bin fore days with out [     ?     ] their gurts or taking off our arms to rest and all that we got to eat was mutter and meet that we maid into much and now salt to but on it eather and that we went under the rebles firing at us all the time now we git flour and parke fresh beaf potatoes same thing, beans rice sugar coffee tea [     ?     ], whiskey but that is something that I don’t youse a grate deal of but it is the lake and we can halve at as let it alone, we halve bilt a mud [   ?   ] to backe our best in and we halve a good breath write in the field woody all around hear, it is a vary new plase hear and the south is not much enterprise the old surty houses and their dress is old fashon they lern nothein new as northern people dose and they can not read nor write one half of them that we friend heal all they know is what they hear, write soon Clarra and write all the news tell your mother that I halve not forgot hir yet and would like to come and dine with hir or at hir table tell John thar that I should like to see him give my love to all the inquiring friends and reserve a share your self and direct your letters to Cairo Ill hoping you all injoyment in the world yours if a friend Ira Graces Co H Miss Clara [   ?   ] from a friend to a friend
