About the Author
Marshall J. Dickinson, of Vermontville, Michigan, enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Company B on August 26, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 33 on September 2. Dickinson received several promotions including: 1st Lieutenant, November 13; Captain, May 17, 1862; Major, September 13, 1863; and, Lieutenant Colonel, July 31, 1865. Marshall J. Dickinson was discharged from service on August 17 at Macon, Georgia. He died on February 26, 1885 and is buried in South Haven, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
