Residing in Branch County, Michigan, Private Isaac Grundy enlisted in the 1st Michigan Light Artillery Batty F at the age of 35 on October 28, 1861 at Coldwater, Michigan. He was mustered into service on January 9, 1862 and was discharged for disability on August 14 at Louisville, Kentucky.
