About the Author

Lathan Bunce, of Milan, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 4th Michigan Cavalry Company A on July 21, 1862 at Detroit, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 28 at the age of 39 and was later promoted to Corporal. Lathan Bunce was discharged from service on April 27, 1863 at Nashville, Tennessee.
