Corner 7th and F streets, Washington D.C. State of Michigan                             SS. County of Calhoun On this 5 day of August 1865, personally appeared before use, a Jeremiah Justice of the Peace in and for the County and State aforesaid, Jeremiah M Beaver of the County of Calhoun and State of Michigan aged 61 years, who, being duly sworn, declares, that he is the father of Goodwin S. Beaver late of Calhoun County and State of Michigan who was a Quarter Master’s Seargent in company           commanded by of the 1st Regiment of Mich SharpShooters who died in the Service of the United States at Carver US General Hospital Washington D.C. on or about the 28h day of June 1865, leaving neither wife nor child. This application is made to recover all arrears of pay and other allowances due the deceased from the United States, and the bounty provided by the 6th Section of the Act of Congress approved July 22, 1861; and the applicant hereby appoints Fitch, Hine & Fox, of Washington, D.C., as his lawful attorneys, and authorizes them to present and prosecute this claim, and to receive and receipt for the certificate that may be issued in satisfaction thereof. Beaver Also personally appeared before me, Ira W Reed Charles K Williams of Albion Calhoun County and Michigan,            to me well known as credible persons, who [torn] declare, that they have been for Eight years [torn] the above named applicant, and with said Goodwin S Beaver [torn] who was a Guarter Master’s Seargent of the 1st Regiment of Mich SharpShooters, and know said applicant to be the father of said deceased, and that said deceased left neither wife nor child; and that they have so interest whatever is this application.
