Sina i once more set myself
down to rite a few lines
to you to let you
know ho
[chewed away] Wall i
am all rite and tite and
hop these few lines may
find you the same for
i like to hear of your bing
well i was glad to git
a letter from Salley
but was sorow to hear
of her being so sick tell
her to keep up cheer
and she will see this war
closed in a short time
tell jake i will do the
best i can to whip them
rebels out we had a fite
with them last sundy
and drove them 100 miles
and lost 2 men and then
they drove us back 50
miles and
[chewed away] camped
last
[chewed away] i cant
say how long we shall
stay for yester day they
was in 6 miles of our
men and we skadadle
out of there and camped
hear after dark and will stay
to day they are fiting in
a bout 80 miles of hear
and we are a gain there
it will take us 2 days
to go there but we will
make them scratch out
of there for they hate us
wall i got 2 letters
from you last week
and was glad to hear from
you and the rest of the
folks in bethel but was
sorow to

was sick

wait the time is coming
fast and when this is
thing will come to a
close tell father and
mother larabee i say

and when i come ther
chickens will sufer to pay
for it tell Salley that
old hen will sufer
when i git there that
is so keep her fat
untill i come

i got that letter and
did not git that

the peace

to take care of my
boys herbet be a
good boy and take
care of that pup
lead him as much
as you pleas and i will
back you in it when
