June the 20 1863 Camp
near mount sterling ky
Wall Lucina i just recieved
this morning one letter from
you and was glad to hear
from you and to hear that
the folks are all well i
am well at present and
so is the wrest of the boys
i recieved one from you
before i wrote that other to
you Wall Sina you dont
know how the rebels tried
to come in to our Camp
last nite they and the
pickets bout until we
sadled our horses and then
they stoped but they drove
our picket in we will give
them fits in a few days we
give them some the other
time they say that we
can whip 5 of them with
our guns for they cant
lod but once while we
can lode 7 times and to
whip the rebls we are bound
to if we can we lay on
our armes all nite last
nite and the horses sadled
and tied to the line so we
knew whare to go to git our
horses in one minute if it
was wanted the boys stood
guard over them all nite
and to awake the boys that
was sleeping i stood one
houre so i saw the signal
lite up town the lite
is there colars they throw
it out on the end of a pole
so it can be seen for
4 miles then prisnars
that we took the other
day is a going to be shot
so no more on this subject
Sina you wrote to me one
hard letter i think but
you cant git me mad
but i feel bad all the
time you dont want to
kill me this time for i
shall die soon anuf if
the rebls dont kill me
i shall come home but
i shant say whether
they will or not they
killed one of our men
the other fite and we
dont know ho is the
next you sayd you wanted
that money so i will
say to you Sina do you
want father to take
care of them things for
nothing if you do say so
and he will but i think
you dont want him to
do you i will send you
the rest of my money as
i calkculated to in the
first peace just as i
told you in the first
place but if you dont
want him to have the
money i will see that
you git it write and
tell me your mind
on this poin
i will do the best i can
for you and the things
that i have left so no
more write soon derect to
