I Judge from your account that the young people are enjoying themselves [   ?   ] I would like much to be one of your [   ?   ] and purchance nothing preventing I amy obtain a short leave. Capt. Townsend says as far as lays in his power a leave will be given me with the greatest of pleasure. There can but few go from the Regt. I may not be one of the lucky ones But be that as it may whether with you or far away upon the tented fields my interests are with you at Home and your pleasure in reality is mine in imagination. You will soon see Soldiers till you cant rest. the 1st Michigan Cav” have all reenlisted and are going home on 30 days Furlough Also Mich 3 Infantry I wonder what Jeff Davis will say to that me thinks there will be a slight tremor in his boots. Our Regt” have been trying to put up winter Quarters myself among the rest my hut is 12 ft by 8 on 7 ft high built of logs and mudded up I think after I get it completed twill be quite comfortable I wish you might step in and see me I have a fire place made of mud and sticks which is quite comfortable necessity is the mother of invention and the soldier feels the axiom. The weather is very cold freezing nights and thaws but little during the day. Our camp are all out on Picket to day. I am left in Camp to make out reports shall Join them in the morning. Some of our wounded boys came to the Co that have been gone all summer looking [   ?   ] Giles is improving fast You may look for him home soon You must excuse a very short letters this time as I have much to do thanks for Stamps Love to Father and kind regards to all enquiring friends Yours Truly Will C.
