Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Perryville, Kentucky Historical Figures: Braxton Bragg Camp near Danville Ky. October the 13th 1862 Kind friend you welcome letter of the 5th found me day before yesterday camped on the battle field of Peryville. It was over a month in coming so you must not blame me for the delay. We had a pretty hard battle. I was not in the fight but I have been over the field. The most of our men have been buryed but the rebels lay on the field. They are a hard looking set they look ragged and way worn. The particulars I will not write for you will get them before you get this. I am in pretty good health now. John is here, he is well. We expect another hard fight almost every day. They say that Brag has drawn his men in line of battle three or four miles from here. Our men are all trying to surround him. I think he will get his feathers plucked before he gets out of Kentuckey this fall. We have had a long march since you heard from me before. I have been to Cincinnati and back down to Louisville. From Louisville we took up our line of march through Tailors- vielle to Bloomfield, from there to Springfield then through the village of Perysville to Harrowsburg and are now in camp 4 miles from Danville. The rebels have just left there and have crossed green river. I think the old flag will soon float all over Kentuckey and I hope all over the Union. I have not much more to write this time for it is getting late and I am sleepy for I was up last night. When you write, please direct via Louisville instead of Cairo. You must overlook mistakes. Please write soon and oblige your friend Thomas Wasson
