Your welcome letter was received not long since We are well. the weather is cool and dry, had little frost last night crops are all good, wheat above the average, nearly half of it was hadly damaged through this Co I had in 165 bushels before the rain I have not thrashed what was out about so by we have 14 acres corn about half eat I sowed six acres wheat two weeks ago not all up yet, today had a light rain last wenesday night you ask what I will give you to work for me this winter well I am not able to [  ?  ], but there is pleanty of work, wages in the woods 20 dolars her month. Up[  ?  ] 100 miles up north where Elias is (beaver Lake. Ogenaw Co,) 20 to 26 per month. there are pleanty of shingle mills about here that are short of help most of the time 20 dolars is about the wages for corn [  ?  ] hands. Charles Sherwood has $18,00 per month all summer works for stringer Charley is advent Your mothers funeral expences were twenty dollars James paid,5, L.P. Lapeer Sept[  ?  ]th Dear brother and sister we received your welcome leter and was glad to hear from you we are all pretty well well John you said Net was drying apples and me have been drying and caning berres of witch thare has been lots we have plenty of black berries on our place and thare is some yet we had some for super thare has been lots of huckleberries peaches are not very plenty and high aples not a very big crop portatoes good I mind you have got more than your share of onions beter throw a good big one this may they have all gone to be but Lewis and myself [  ?  ]John do you ever see the [  ?  ] Mitchel it used to be if you do tell her I send lots of love and wish she would write to me when you write again tell me about the folks I used to know thare Harveys family are pretty well well Net if you will send some of your apples over this way I will help you [  ?  ] them well they have all gone to bed and left me and I guess I will have to go to some of the children will write [  ?  ] time I guess with lots of love to all I must stop please write soon Deldy [On Envelope:] John C.
