Regiment: 20th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Antietam Creek, MD Sept 29, 1862 Dear Wife, I have a little time and I do not know of any better use to make of it than to write to one who I am thinking of continuously. I am well all except for one of my feet. I think I must have strained it a little it is quite lame this morning. We are about 5 miles from Sharpsburg. We received marching orders yesterday morning. We marched about 3 miles when we encamped. We are now in the Brigade. We are in Gen Chris’s Brigade. When I write again I will try and find out what Regiment are in our Brigade. Ed Trimmer came over to see us yesterday morning just as we got ready to start so he came along with us and stayed along with us all day. George and I went back a piece with him last night. Just about sun down we had dress parade then we was formed into a square when Capt. Warren of the Great Lakes Co. delivered a first rate sermon. Frank I have not received but one letter from home yet and that was a week ago last Tuesday. There was a mail call last Saturday but none for me or Abe or Horace but Horace heard through the rest of the death of his father. But you must write as often as you can for we shall get a mail once a week after this. Give my love father and mother and your folks and all the rest. I’ll send you all the kisses I can get in this letter. I expect we shall stay here for some time. Answer as soon convenient From your true husband, C. D. Snow
