Regiment: 1st Michigan Engineers Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: 1864    May 8th Bever Creek Allabama To Miss Clark I take they oportunity of sending you a few lines hoping that they will find you all well and has got your cow by this I had they small book come to hand last thursday and I sent lawson a bill yesterday stateing that he could pay Ann Clark they ballance and I signed the pay rowl yesterday so as we shant be long before we get pay we will remain hear about another week and then I dont know ware we go I have not heard from George Starkweather since I rote to him I have not got much to say but I will rite again as soon as we moove and get settled I though I would send you a few lines to say that I had rote to Lawson and you be sure and take good Care of they children and if I live I will reward you for it I only feel that I am doing my duity to my country So no more From yours Truly    William Slater First Michigan Engineers + Mechanicks Nashville Tennasee I do not feel in trim for riting
