Dear sister i recived your leter to day and was very glad to hear that you are all well and Mr Cutters says that our things are not agrate wages [ ? ] we are looking for them all the time now Cutters brought me a very nice [ ? ] for one dolar he sayed that the pries was 10 shilons and he told them that it was for a Sholgier and they must let it go for a dolar. We have plenty of clothes now i never dressed warmer in my life than i do now i have no [ ? ] to find with clothes a very little with eatables they dont excackley suit me after all we live pirty well fo sholdiers soft bred and beaf and baken and crackeres and shugar and molases and coffee and we ar going to traid coffee for tea but you now that alittle Buter and cheese and dride fruit wont come in miss you dont now how good they last after doing without so long. But Mr Cutters sayes that i look agrate deal tuffer than i did at hillsdale that is inconigeing i think and i hope i shall keep so good health is all i ask and i [ ? ] stanit as long as eny of then and when my things comes i will drop a line and let you now abou it. as for stampes i hant got a one to my name. and as for the war i am [ ? ] that it cant last long but i am good [ ? ] as long as it last if it be 3 yeares if it is nessary i can fight or do the other thing sun and my self has stood it the best of eny of the boyes from somerset will i shall [ ? ] my riting till after dress perade it is time that i was geting redy To day is sunday and we have gest got off from inspection and it was rather a frosty morning i dont think of eny thing more to rite at present so i shall [ ? ] bring my leter to a close so good by to you all and i hope that these few lines will find you all in good health F.
