Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Grand Rapids Oct 11th Dear Father I arrived here all right it cost us only 2 cents a mile on the rail road we cant find out positive when we are a going to leave at any rate we shant leave ffore next thursday if we do before a week from Monday I think about one week from monday our cloths have not all come yet they expect them evry night each one of us got our blankets last night. Dave is coming to day or to morrow I dont know which. the girls and some of the boys came down from the seminary to see us start off we have started for the plaster beds this morning four of us and expect to be gone all day, this is nothing but a short letter and shall have to close fore the boys are waiting for me. there is nothing new here now onley there is about 500 horses here and about 40 tents we have got to go in to them I expect this week. the boys all got here and they are all well Good bye Yours truly CH Potter
