The wheels got under rest of the cars and threw them from the tracks one car was draged on its side for over 10 rods the boys knocking around inside the car it is a wonder we was not all killed for there was s steep bank on the right hand side and the river on the left The citizens of Perryville came to our assistance the Ladies took care of those that was bruised  there was 3 men slighting hurt and our breakmans leg broke I do not think there was ever suck a smask up with so few hurt I did not get to see Francis I did not hardly have time to turn round The boys say they was at home I lived 3 years in the 30 days they was at home I know I did I would like very much to have seen and made you a visit   We was ordered from the state sooner than thought we would be I would liked to have seen her so much here is one thing I am contented about that is that Mother has got a home Now I shall try and have money enough to buy me a farm Elon and myself are going to each buy a farm close together I think [     ?     ] farm is for a living than do anything else A farmer is the most [     ?     ] any man living and the [     ?     ] We have a number of Recruits in the Regt  The old Boys bought some [     ?     ] told the recruits [     ?     ] the commissary so they [     ?     ] Jenkins and wanted their [     ?     ] Jenkins sent them to the Quartermaster he sent.
