Rosecrans Nashville, Tennessee June l0th 1863 Dear Wife I again take this opertunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am still living and in better health than When I Rote to you last and I hope these few lines will find you all well Dear Wife I thought as I could not hear from you I would sit down and write a few lines to you I am hapy to inform you that George Owen is a little better than hee was when I rote to you last hee is abble to sit up and walk around a little Now I think if hee has good luck he will get beter again and be able to return to duty again theare is a great many of our Boys Complaining now some with they flavor and some with they diarah they weather is very pleasant heare now it has been so hot for they last two weeks as it was before wee have had some nice raines and it coulded the are We had a Sad and mournfull acident happened last Friday one of our captains was accidently killed wile guardind they train to murfreesboro they guard is stationed on they top of they car and as they train was pasing under they bridge just before it reached there he raised himself up for something just as the Car was pasing under they bridge he struck they back of his head against they bridge and it threw him off and they cars weel pased over him killing him almost instansley His name is Captain Hinery Caralton of Company E from Saint Clare Poor man I am informed that hee leaves a wife and three small children to mourn his los Hee was a Preacher before entering they servis they excitement that was prevailing hear has subsided some but they streets are temperly Blaockheaded yet they Rebels have not made aney atact on this Please as was expected by maney of the Citticens They atcted Franklin and Trienne last Thursday and after some Severe .fighting ware driven of by our forces and with considerable loss in killed and wounded and wee Captured about two hundred Prisoners Thare is troops pasing through heare every day bound for Murfreesboro and other places in General Rosecrance Command They Rebbels are reported to have a strong fource at Chatinooga and tuscumby Dear Hannah I wrote to to send me a pare of boots made and send them by Captain Beardsle if you can make it convenet I wish you would send them for a pair of boots canot bee bought heare less than ten dollars and nothing to brag about at that prise If Captain has not started hee will bring them to me I not much news to write at present only I want little Abbeys likeness and Idas to Now give my love to Walter and Abbey and take a good share to your self give my Respects to all I am acuainted with and tell them to write to me for a soldier likes to hear from home.
