Rosecrans Camp Ella Bishop Lexington, Kentucky February l, l863 Dear Sir I will take the opertunety of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well at present. and I hope these few lines will find you all enjoying they blessing I have rote two letters to you and have not received no answer yet I sent twenty dolars to Hanah by Captin Beardslee and I sent a company Record and my Non Commistion Warent Tell Hanah to take care of them and keep it clean if shee has got they above mentioned things please let me know by return of post. Now Walter this is Sunday they first day of Febuary yesterday wee had inspection of arms and knapsacks and was to have been inspected to day by General Gilmore But as it did not please God to stop they rain wee cheated they old Cus this lime for he allways picks they worst time hee can to have his inspections. So hee can find some fault about they guns or accuterments not being clean enuf to sutc him. Rain snow and mud is they order of they day it raind all night last night and is till raining yet and looks likely to yet You said you was a going to send me a box but if you have sent it I have not seen it yet. If you have sent it please let me know when you sent it They mud is up to our ancles all around they camp thare has been a movement with they troops Since I rote to you last. They forty fifth Ohio has gone to danville and they eighteenth Kentucky has left this place and they 18 ohio Batery is gone away from heare thare has one Division left and gone to Rainforse General Rosencrants in Tenesee So we shall stand a good Chance to stay in Kentucky but I hope we shall move in the spring to some place for I do not like to stay so long in one place I supose you have seen my Captain in Pontiac hee can tell you more about Kentucky than I can write. I want you to let me know how much your taxes are this year I supose they are heavy They two Roarbachker boys are well and sends thare love to you all. George Owen and Charles Saser are well and sends there respects to you all George Was. has been sick with a bad cold but he is beter now. They health of they Regiment is improving very fast but the weather is unfaverable for men that has been sick to get well very fast. I supose you have seen old Irea Goodrich. You know hee can Blarney purty well I supose he can tell some gud stories as usel make give my love to your wife and child and luther phelps folks and acept the same your self. No more at present.
