Col. J. M. Oliver 15 Mich V V Infty has been
recommended for promotion by his Division
commander. I take this occasion to add my
testimonial to the worth & merit of that officer. For
two years I have been more or less intimately
associated with Col. Oliver in the service and
have even found him devoted to the interests
of the Union and success your cause and
manifesting an executive and administrative
ability eminently fitting him for the promotion
he so richly deserves for his long & meritorious
services. Respectfully urging to the favorable
consideration of the Maj. Genl. Comdg the reward
so justly due Col Oliver. I can but express my
entire confidence in his disposition and ability
to reflect the highest credit upon the position
to which Genl Hazen has recommended him
