Regiment: 6th Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: [Image of George Washington] Sound the praise of heroes gone, Sound the praise of Washington. washington Camp gray feb 6 1863 my dear fried kate I take my pen to let you know that I am well and hope that this will find you the same I reseved your leter of the 26 and was glad to hear from you sam and ream is sick john says that he has roat roat you a letter and he says he wont write til you do I gues ream out mad he hant had any from you yet there there is a bout a thousand head of cattel there is cattel a going by here evry day it snowed all day yesterday and rand all last night and is a raining yet I am on gard to day most all the boys is sick and I hav to stand gard evry other day tel loisa that she is a darnd fool if she goes home to live I hope he is a going a way but it to god nows to be tough it would be ablesing if he and another man would leav john has got anew hat and he feels pretty big over it he says that I hav roat more lyes than you can po put in a army wagens tel oliv and merit l not to get a fighting and kill each other for it is bad enough for the men there is more milk pedlers here than you can put in a ten acre lot but it is more than half watter there is more nigers here than white men I dident like a niger but I hate them now I can shot them as well as I can a squirl so good by from your friend Fred to kate
