Regiment: 2nd Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: May the 11 1873 Dear daughter Amanda I take the opertunity to infor in you that weare are enjoying goobreath at this time hoping you and Mills enjoy the same blessing you wrote you had walked to the [ ? ] I hope you can ride out by this time Sydney is better, mrs Pomeray died may the third was buried the next monday after moth er, was buried in the Bethel semetry Peter and Clintons folks are all well Charley an E are keeping house we have a cold wet spring there is but little grain sown yet Sylvester Lewis was buried last thursday I must tell you about our return home we left your house on tuesday stopet over at dexter until thursday 4, oclock came to bhat ham 4 miles in can ada staid in the cars till ha lf past seven the next morning came fifteen miles walked five leangth of plank took the cars again got to lock port at five staid with Hiram Phillips til morning got to Gorham Station 12 oclock My dear Darling Manda May the 15 I thought i would finish your letter this morning we got your letter yesterday was glad to hear you are abe to ride out i wish i could see you a coming down the road i immagion i see you a riding on marshal street tell Mills i wish he would come over + take dinner with us + fetch you along we are agoing to have piplant gri for dinner i baked 3 this morning Henry is over to Charlys helping him so barley i have got most done clening house i have papered the close room our bed room + the selling room we have painted the close room flore up stairs + the one of the selling room chint Mary is a going to sell her things all but her beeds and visit around amoving her friends she misis Grandma so much her home is all brook up she says she cant live alone she stays to Sidnys every night we all miss Grandma so much it seams so lonly to go home and not see grandma their we miss our friends when they are taken from us i know you and Mills are so lanly the little [ ? ] was to pretty for earth i am glad pa + i got their before she dide i wish we could come now + stay with you i told Aunt [ ? ] Brown you wanted her to come + stay with you this summer i dont think she will come west this summer she stays to [ ? ] the most of the time Marys father and mother Mr + Mrs Debois boath dide this spring Charly says you wouldent be so glad to see him as he would you Henry says he wants to see [ ? ] Manda Willis folks are well Edna grows verry fast Pa + Henry + ma sends love to Mills + Manda pleas excuse mistakes Wright often we are so anocious to hear from you Sally send love to you I have not heard any thing from Molly Street I dont know where to direct a letter i saw Mrs Wager send we came home she told me Sarah has got 6 children 4 girls and 2 boys give our love to [ ? ] Mrs Sheffeld Mrs Halhuway + Eddes ma + Hannah [illegible line] [ ? ] Catharines eyes did not see [ ? ] they [ ? ] [On Envelope:] Mrs S M Holton Battle Creek Mich
