I am well at present and hope you are the same. i am in the midst of Rebeldom sixty mules South of Washington. We are within three miles of the rebel picket lines, it has been very pleasant weather every since we have been here till now it rains like everything mud up to the top of my boots. I have seen ten rebs. they deserted, they was a ragged looking set they say that the rebelionis about crushed. our regiment went out on a raid yesterday. General Kilpatric says he will take our men out of Richmond prison or loose every man he has got. We have got orders to pack everything. We dont know where we are a going. You must write and tel me how Sabin gets along. I have not got any more time to write. Give my best re- spects to all. You must write as soon as you can good bye Mariette Direct Mr. Adelbert R.
