Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Jun 28 /64 Acworth Georga Dear Clara how hapy I was yesterday to receive your letter and will try to pen a few lines in return we halve left the front and I do not think that we will go in battle again while I am to stay we ar orderd back to Franklin Tenn. to joine our vettern and gard the railroad they could not git eny horses and we turned ours after another rig so we halve camp to the railroad to go back and we may stay hear some time and we may go this agternoon we halve nothen to do hear so I do not car when we do go we may halve a little fun with the raiders if they should come whare we are you do not hear much from this army it is all cept [   ?   ] and cep blind but the wounded tell the story thare has been hard fighten in this part, now it has been eight weeks since we comensed fighting and thare has not been one day thare has not been fighting nor hardly a minet and I now that the contry has plenty of it Gen Mc cook is our commander he has best got the star on his straps he was a Col, Mccook commands one Div, + Regiment, of can thare is one Col Mccook that commands inf you said that you wished that I was thare the forth I wish that I was but still you might not enjoy you self as you will now for probly you will tend a ball and enjoy all of the plasher of the world, but if thare is eny plasher in dancing which I though thare was, and if thare was or is eny plasher with me, you could not enjoy both for I halve given dancing over, pleas not git affrentes I halve danced my last time I think, manhood has appeared and the gidey hours has past, money is my plasher now and the two will not go together, I do not intend to be stingy not that i but I think that I can put money to better youse, so you must dance all that you can some for me, and that will do for both of us for I now that you would not like to go to ball if I was thare and did not go but let this past away I would like to see you write soon I would like to hear from Jack the male man is after the letter so good bye yous with with love Ira Graves [On Envelope:] Miss Clara Simonds Watransville Tuscola Co Mich
