The present you sent me was as unexpected as it was welcome. You say seeing he has done so well last fall I will send him a present. When I was working for Uncle Henry the thought that I was helping you and Mother pec[     ?     ] as well showing myself and others that I could do something for my self and that I had [     ?     ] enough to stick to at least one thing The advice in my letter was as gladly received as it was freely given and I hope I huay profit by it as no one but a father and me who was truly interested in my future welfare could have given such advice. I have done nothering with my money yet but I guess Mother will take it for six months at least. It is the coldest day we have had this winter and one needs to be thank ful for parents to provide fuel and shelter from the [          ?          ] There was and acoount of the defence of the Mich. Engrs, is to-day eagle the eagle has been [   ?   ] to say any thing in praise of Col Irwis his office or [   ?   ] aid this was but a copy out of another paper. If Mother is wiing I will enclose it is this she has gone to see Ball McKee now You ask me to tell you the state of things at the north and what should be the loyal part of Our Country. There is a party in all which are ruly excelled in [     ?     ] + trationsin by Jeff Davis and his rebel crew they are called copper head and they say and do all they dare to put down the lawful authority of the United States The ruffiaird of New York have [     ?     ] to plop the legislature of that state they were there when they voted for Leu- ator with arms to force their own party and money to bribe Republican as high as $2,000 was offered [     ?     ]. Such as perceeding is a share to the state of New York and the lawgivers of that state. A. A. Sawyers f[     ?     ] sermont was [     ?     ] in Luces Hall Yesterday to a large audience. I see by to-day paper that Liuet Bunerd of the 21st Mich is to be lulled by the Rebels for, they claim, trying to pars counter fit Confederate money for provisions.
