Lee West Point        December 5th/65 Dear Cousin I now take my pen in hand to inform you that I am well and in good [health It has been a long time since I have heard from Stewartstown I have almost forgoton there is such a place. It has been a long time since I have had a letter from you at least so long that I have forgoten whether I last answered your last letter or not if I did not it is my fault I awlway’s intended to answer all of your letters I hope you will excuse me and I will try to do better in the future I got my discharge last May in Philadel- phia I was in the Hospital when discharged I was taken sick with the dipthria the first of April when we was after Lee’s Army and went to the hospital and mised the fun of seeing his army after Fightin so long But then it is all right now the war is over and piece is once more. and I hope it will continue the rest of my day’s god nows I never wan tto see an nother war in this Country. There is several sveral in this vicinity that has lately came from Stewartstown Vix Eugene Harriman George Bishop Mr Hanes and Mr. Young I guess they all like this country very well Egene Harriman was hear yesterday and has gon over to Uncle Timothy’s now to make them a visit Uncle Timothie’s family is well an dthey are going down to Iowa to see Warren this winter are a going to start next Monday Edward Tirrell is dead you probably you have heard the particulars before now all the rest of your Friend and Relitives are in good health at the present I did not see Isabella last spring she died a few day’s before I got home It must have been very hard news to you to have heard of her death so sudden She had a great many friends hear for being hear so short a time I would like to have seen her but it was not so to be. I am a going to get her picture the next time I go to sank the negitive is there and I would like yours very much and if you will send your picture in your next letter I will send mine in haste It is very fine weather hear not there is now snow yet and to day it is warm and as clear as a bell It is getting late and for the want of something to write I must close write as soon as you get his and all the news so good by            Yours Truly Lloyd H Colby, to Miss Marrella Harriman
