Regiment: 1st U.S. Volunteers Sharpshooters Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Grand Rapids June 21st 1862 My Own Loved Gardner, Once more I seat myself to [ ? ] with a loved one although it is only with pen, ink and paper it is much better than in way and I think we should be very thank full that we have this privilege. We have had very plesant weather the past few days and I hoped we may have far a few more. Amanda is coming down here the 4th I suppose she sent down word that she was. I am sure I should like very much to see her, but I had much rather stay at home all day than to go into the street I had my picture taken the other day to send to you, but it is not a very good one and I thought I would try and get a better one I have not heard from you in nearly a week and expect a letter every day. I feel real tired to night but do not know what the reason is for I am sure I have not done much. not enough to hurt me. Our strawberries are very good this year but not near as nice as they were last, and I think I do not care near as much about them. Mother is almost sick to- night but I hope she will be better in the morning. As it is late I shall have to close expect more in a few days. Ever Your Mary. A Kiss.
