Regiment: 1st U.S. Volunteers Sharpshooters Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Marcellns Cass Co M Apr 2 1866 Lieut G B Clark Respected Friend & Comrad You need not think because I did not answer your letter at an earlier date that it was on account of a want of friendship and besides respect for a long tried and brave old Comrad would make me answer your request if nothing more I wish you had given me some form to work by in drawing you up a testimomat But nevertheless I will do the best I can in the primises But before it go any further I will give you the reason wy I have not replyed to you letter before I was absent at the time you wrote me in New York I was married the 22 of last February to a young lady who was a resident of the state of NY I have but just returned home Therefore you will see the reason why it did not write sooner I hear from the old C. C. boys occasionally [ ? ] is doing Good business in Hudson in the Book & Stationary business I hear that Billy Colwell & J. C. Whitney are in the wholesale liquor trade in Chattanooga Tennessee The [ ? ] boys are all in Chicago at some kind of business but the subscriber don’t know what that business is But I think it is about time that I should draw this article to a close how is Mrs Clark I suppose she is geting pretty well versed in military life Please to reply at your earliest convinence and accept this from an old comrad & friend E A Wilson Marcellns Cass Co Mich Ps Gardner You will find enclosed the [ ? ] you calld for which you can make use of as you see fit Ed
