My dear Davidson
All packed up
and ready to start. Reveille’s at half
past three to-morrow morning. Mud
14 inches or less depp and every pros-
pect of having a soft bed in it to-
morrow night
To-day I sent you a package
of things by express which please keep
for me, It consisted of papers, letters +c
which nobody but myself would want.
I supose we will be ten or twelve days
in getting to Nashville. Write me
there. Direct as before. Love to
