Regiment: 16th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp on the field Monday May the 4th 1863 My Dear Parents i now take my pen in hand to let you know that i am Still in the land of the living and in good health and i hope that this letter will find you and all the rest of the family enjoying the same blessing i have sent you a picture of our old camp this day week and i hope that you have got it for i know that it will please you very much we have had Some hard times of it since i last wrote you we have been on the march ever Since the 27th of last month and we have been fighting Since the first of this month both night and day but the hardest fighting i have ever heard or saw was done the night bfore last and yesterday all day but we were the victors we still hold our position and we intend to hold it they have been fighting all along our lines to day i Shall Send 15 dollars in this letter i have no time to write more this time the rebell Sharp Shooters Since i sat to write here so i will close for this time   From your son Chancy Bunyea
