Regiment: 3rd Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp near Richmond June 20 1862 Dear Cousin you must excuse me for not writing to you before for I have had all I could attend to lately. How is all of the folks at home I am well at present + hope this will find you the same the most of the boys are well now We exspect to have a hard fight here before long but I suppose you get the news in the papers We lost a great many men in the last battle I was over the Battle field the other day + saw twelve men that was shot in the fight that had not been buried yet they were overlooked by our men when they burying the dead rather tuff sight Now about the girls How do they all get along it has ben some time since I have heard any thing about them we doant have any here How is mary Brocket I should like to hear from her if she has time to write I havent time to write much more this time + cant think of any more to write so I guess I will close just find a wife for me if you can for I am coming home by + by if the [ ? ] rebels doant hit me with some of their old iron that they throw around here so careless + then I shal want to marry Plese give my love to all + write soon as you get this + all of the news, yours +c H.
