Regiment: 19th Indiana Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Washington 11th Sept. 1862 Dear Parents: I will now try and write you a few lines. You must not expect much. I suppose father arrived home this morning. My wound is getting along finely, so Dr. Stephenson says. It is still quite painful, and still continues running. I find my expenses are going to be a good deal more than I thought. I have to pay for washing the sheets my shirts, and there is a great many dirtied. I have nothing more to say now. Give my love to all. Affectionately yours, T. H. Benton Direct to: T. H. Benton, 417 – 12th St., Washington, D.C.
