Dear Friend Pheby
I though I would write
a few lines to you to
let you know I still
live altho I never have
writen before it was
because you are almost
a stranger to me for
I never saw you but
a few times I am
in the hospital at
Haggerstown I have ben
slightly wounded but I
am able to sit up
now so I have ben
writing to evry one I
could think of if
I had not forgot that
Ladies name that came
with you to the party
at Mrs Lampmans House
I should write a few
lines to her you may
tell her that I send
my love and a kiss
to her and give my
love to all the firles
around there that I am
acquanted with
you must
excuse all mistakes and
bad spelling for I dont
feel able to write an
nother word so I will
stop by scrbbing my
